A few weeks in Mauritius
It was the opportunity to go back to my roots, to travel in this country that I only knew by name of pictures (from my first trip, 25 years earlier…I was 3 years old).
Mauritius, we go there mostly for its breathtaking landscapes, its white sandy beaches and to relax in the transparent water of the lagoon. But the first thing you notice when you arrive is that the country has changed a lot during these decades.
What we like in Mauritius is above all to be able to enjoy the local culture, in the middle of a very open and welcoming population. The typical dishes can be tasted at any time anywhere (on the go) are a delight; I am thinking in particular of the Faratas.
There are also some things that are less appreciated, of course, especially the choices of the country to offer more and more for tourists, even if it means encroaching across the territory of Nature. And beyond this aspect, a rather…unstructured bus network (prepare your “Bus Stop” sign and your heart pills, because driving is…sporty).
